SINGING
Building confidence is key to singing better. At SOLE and we do this in a very fun, supportive environment. In these group sessions we will focus on vocal techniques to get you singing comfortably and produce a sound you will love hearing. You will be empowered to harmonise and express yourself through a range of contemporary, pop, soul and jazz music. You will also gain insight by watching others overcoming their own difficulties and witness them unlocking a voice they thought they never had.
At SOLE you will learn how to:
- find your true voice
- rectify nasal and breathy issues
- extend your range
- build breathing support
- overcome anxiety and gain confidence
- learn performance & mic techniques
There are two options for singing at SOLE. The Open Session is for beginners or for people who love to sing and want some helpful tips to improve. All levels are welcome. The Professional Class is for people who have experience and want to take their singing and performance to a professional level. Audition required.

SONGWRITING
“Songwriting is kind of like a craft. It’s not something that comes in a dream. You’ve got to work for it.” - Sean Lennon.
At SOLE you will learn:
- how a song is constructed and developed
- how to form catchy melodies and chord progressions
- how to develop original, relatable lyrics
- how to find your own sound
We will analyse chart topping songs and learn why they became so successful. You will also have the chance to share your own work in a supportive environment and receive constructive feedback from your tutor and group in special listening sessions. You don’t need to be able to play an instrument as we will also be constructing melodies and lyrics over produced beats. Most genres will be covered (pop, folk, jazz, soul, electronic and hiphop). Beat makers, producers and rappers are very welcome.
There are two options for songwriting at SOLE. The Open Session is for beginners who want to grasp the concepts of songwriting. All levels welcome. The Professional Class is for people who have had some experience and want to take their songwriting to a professional level, release music, make a hit radio single or start building your songwriting portfolio for a publishing agency.

ARTIST DEVELOPMENT
In this programme, Sacha Vee will work directly with you to design and structure a plan for you to achieve your goals in music and mentor you to develop your own personalised music vision. Whether it is to perform your own set at a local bar, record and release your music, get your music heard on radio or become the next big NZ music export no goal will be too big and will always be supported.
Recording and performance opportunities will be made available and a tailor made plan will be developed especially for you which will include invaluable connections with the right music figures, music labels and publishing houses and will help you be one step closer to making your dreams come true.

All students will have the chance to perform in our SOLE showcase held at The Piano at the end of Term 2 and Term 4.
