SONGWRITING

“Songwriting is kind of like a craft. It’s not something that comes in a dream. You’ve got to work for it.” - Sean Lennon.

We will analyse chart topping songs and learn why they became so successful.  You will also have the chance to share your own work in a supportive environment and receive constructive feedback from your tutor and group in special listening sessions. You don’t need to be able to play an instrument as you can also construct melodies and lyrics over produced beats. All genres are welcome. Beat makers, producers, musicians and rappers are also very welcome.

At SOLE you will learn:

Learn songwriting techniques such as developing lyrics, melodies and how a song is constructed

Write and finish an original song either individually or as a group

Receive valuable feedback on original songs written for NCEA or for own projects

Opportunity to perform your song to audience
